Community Plant Sharing

We are growing an online and in-person community to help people share plants for their gardens, homes and community spaces. Plants are beautiful, good for your health and key to tackling the climate crisis. But plants can be expensive, hard to find and transport. Commercial growing uses a lot of energy and water.

Plants often travel a long way, increasing their carbon footprint.

Helping people share plants locally, will improve the local environment. It will also help people on lower incomes, or those without a car to grow plants. Connecting local people helps to build community and tackle loneliness.

There are a number of online apps that help people donate or sell unwanted items (such as Gumtree, Freegle, Vinted and Olio). None of these apps are currently effective for sharing or selling plants. As a result I will be sharing a few ideas for how this could be done better.
